The Best Taylor Swift Songs for Every Zodiac Sign

Taylor Swift has released more than 200 songs since dropping her first single, “Tim McGraw,” back in 2006. From the twangy country of her debut album to the effervescent pop of 1989 to the moody folk of Folklore and Evermore — and just about every genre of music in between — it’s safe to say Swift has something in her catalog to suit every musical taste.

With the Eras Tour in full swing, we thought it’d be fun to put together a guide to the best Taylor Swift songs and albums for every zodiac sign. That’s right — it’s time to let the stars dictate which of Swift’s music you’re destined to enjoy. And because we take our Taylor Swift and our astrology very seriously around here, we’ve really done our homework for this one.

We chatted with two experts (and fellow Swifties!) Maressa Brown, astrologist and author of Raising Baby by the Stars, and Emily Thornton, tarot reader with Solar Sister Tarot  — to get their music recommendations for every sign. Happy listening!

Taylor swift reputation album

Aries

“Aries, a fire sign, is ruled by Mars, the planet of action and energy,” notes Brown.

Brown’s picks for Aries: “Fast-paced songs really work best for them,” she says. “They don’t have much patience for something like ‘All Too Well.’ That’s the opposite of their jam.” If you’re an Aries, Brown suggests listening to Swift’s quicker, poppier, more upbeat songs, like “22” off Red.

Thornton’s picks for Aries: Reputation is an excellent pairing for this sign. “Aries do not mince their words and are action takers,” she says. “We hear the unmistakable Aries energy in ‘…Ready For It?’”

Taurus

“Taurus, an earth sign, is ruled by Venus, the planet of beauty, pleasure, and art,” explains Brown. “They’re very grounded and really take their time to feel out the moment. They’re also very sensual and use all five senses to experience life around them.”

Brown’s picks for Taurus: “‘All Too Well’ is a song I’d recommend for Taurus because it’s so meandering,” says Brown. “Folkmore and Evermore are also very Taurean. ‘Cardigan’ makes me think of Taurus.” “Stay Stay Stay” from Red also feels very Taurean to Brown because they like what’s comfortable and known.

Thornton’s picks for Taurus: Fearless has a lot of themes about loyalty and following your heart with ‘The Way I Loved You’ and ‘Forever & Always,’” she says. “Taurus is a reliable sign but they also love incredibly deeply — after all, they’re ruled by Venus.”

Gemini

“Gemini, an air sign, is ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication,” says Brown. “They’re very buzzy and curious. They flit from one thing to the next. They don’t really love to sit in a moment for too long — they get bored.”

Brown’s picks for Gemini: For Gemini, Brown gravitates to quicker tracks — songs under three minutes that also aren’t super romantic. She says songs that are more lighthearted and bubby are excellent for Gemini. Lover has quite a few options that fit the bill, including “I Think He Knows” and “I Forgot That You Existed.” “Style” is another great Gemini song since this sign is fashion conscious, says Brown.

Thornton’s picks for Gemini: This sign represents “communication, truth, and clarity,” says Thornton. That’s why she thinks Speak Now is the ideal album for Gemini. “This album had a lot of controversy surrounding songs that were written about significant others in Taylor’s life,” she says. “It was Taylor’s chance to tell her side of the story.”

Cancer

“Cancer, a water sign, is ruled by the moon, so they’re very intuitive,” says Brown. “They’re also very romantic and sentimental. They remember a lot of things that are associated with feelings they had at a particular time — so there’s a lot of Taylor that could work for Cancer.” (As a Cancer, this totally tracks.)

Brown’s picks for Cancer: “I like ‘Cornelia Street’ for Cancer,” she says. “‘Snow on the Beach’ also feels very Cancer.” That especially makes sense given that Lana del Rey is a Cancer herself. Additionally, with the watery imagery evoked by the lyrics, “This Love” from 1989 is also a great pick for Cancer.

Thornton’s picks for Cancer: Thornton likes Taylor Swift’s eponymous debut album for Cancer. “This album goes right back to Taylor’s country roots and hometown,” she says. “Cancer is represented by home and family. Cancer is also deeply emotional and intuitive.” Thornton says we hear the sensitive teen negotiating life and relationships in “Teardrops on my Guitar.” “Taylor is also a Cancer Moon, so it would make sense that her first album is close to her heart,” she adds.

Leo

Leo is a fire sign ruled by the sun, says Brown. Thornton adds that Leo is a fierce, bold sign with a lot of pride.

Brown’s picks for Leo: “Daylight” and “Cruel Summer” off Lover are both excellent choices for this sign, says Brown. “Leo, being born in the summer, likes to celebrate the season,” she explains. Brown adds that Leo is all about music that’s pure pop. “They definitely go for those catchy pop dance songs,” she says. “Lavender Haze” from Midnights is also quite Leo, says Brown, because they’re very romantic.

Thornton’s picks for Leo: Thornton gravitates toward Red for Leo. “This album was fierce and bold, just like Leo,” she says. “‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ is a Leo anthem. Once you hurt a Leo’s pride or cross them, you can never go back. This album was unapologetic, and Taylor began to really step into her Leo power.”

Virgo

Virgo is an earth sign ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication, says Brown, who’s a Virgo. “We’re very detail-oriented and service-oriented,” she says. “We want to help people and are also very much in our heads, but in a different way than Gemini.” Brown explains that whereas Gemini love to absorb all different information and then share it, Virgos are more thoughtful (and actually oftentimes over-thoughtful). They’re also very self-critical.

Brown’s picks for Virgo: There are a lot of tracks where Swift is ruminating or trying to figure out something through the lyrics, and those are perfect for Virgo, says Brown. Many songs on Midnights work for this sign. “‘Question…?’ feels Virgoan because we’re reporters, even if we’re not by profession,” says Brown. “Anti-Hero” is also incredibly Virgoan. Brown explains that Swift’s midheaven, which is the cusp of the 10th house, is in Virgo. The 10th house has to do with career and public image, and the midheaven is an angle on the chart that speaks to how you’re perceived in the public eye. “‘Anti-Hero’ is really showing that midheaven,” says Brown. “When I heard that song, I was like, oh boy, that’s very much her Virgo showing.”

Thornton’s picks for Virgo: Thornton says Evermore is quintessentially Virgo. “This album is very earthy, cottage core, and fairy garden, which fits perfectly with Virgo’s aesthetic, with songs like ‘Willow’ and ‘Ivy’ bringing us back to nature,” she says.

Libra

Libra is an air sign ruled by Venus, the planet of beauty. Libras are social butterflies, says Brown, and balance and beauty are the most important things to them. They’re always trying to increase the aesthetic value of something around them for the purpose of creating peace. “They avoid conflict at all costs,” says Brown.

Brown’s picks for Libra: “‘Bejeweled’ feels very Libra in the vibe of it,” says Brown. “‘Lover’ is also good for them too because Venus is the planet of love and it’s so romantic.” Brown adds that “Paper Rings” off Lover also feels very Libra.

Thornton’s picks for Libra: Hello, Lover. Thornton chooses this dreamy pop album for Libra, a sign all about balance, peace, and harmony. “Libra cannot stand injustice, and ‘You Need to Calm Down’ is a call to action,” she explains. “Lover is also sentimental and romantic with songs like ‘Lover’ and ‘Cornelia Street.’ This album feels like floating on a cloud and falling in love for the first time.”

Scorpio

Scorpio, a water sign, is co-ruled by Mars, the planet of action, and Pluto, the planet of transformation, explains Brown. “They can be intense, jealous, vindictive, and magnetic,” says Brown. “They get fixed on things.” (Swift’s got some Scorpio in her for sure, don’t you think?)

Brown’s picks for Scorpio: “Vigilante Shit,” “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve,” and “Bad Blood” have big Scorpio energy, says Brown. “Reputation and Midnights, to some extent, are very Scorpionic to me overall,” she adds.

Thornton’s picks for Scorpio: Unsurprisingly, Reputation is also Thornton’s top choice for Scorpio. “It’s dark, gothic, and features imagery of snakes — and it’s all about revenge, a dish Scorpio believes is best served cold,” says Thornton. As for specific songs off Reputation, Thornton likes “I Did Something Bad” and “Look What You Made Me Do” as they “perfectly encapsulate the Scorpio sound,” she says.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius, a fire sign, is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of abundance and expansion. “They’re very adventurous, and bigger is always better,” says Brown. And fun fact: Swift is a Sagittarius.

Brown’s picks for Sagittarius: “‘Paris’ is very Sag,” says Brown. “‘Shake It Off’ also feels very Sag to me.” Basically, any of Swift’s songs that have a big sound are a perfect pairing for Sagittarius, says Brown.

Thornton’s picks for Sagittarius: Thornton likes 1989 for Sagittarius. “With songs like ‘Welcome to New York,’ how could this album not be a Sagittarius anthem?” she says. “This album feels adventurous, free, and a rollercoaster from start to finish.” Thornton says with fun tracks like “Shake It Off,” 1989 “has a bouncy optimism and deeply expansive Sagittarius energy.” Additionally, “Taylor is a Sagittarius Sun, and this album perfectly represents her vibrant fiery sun sign,” adds Thornton.

Capricorn

Capricorn is an earth sign ruled by Saturn, the planet of challenges, hard work, and putting your nose to the grindstone and working your way toward something, explains Brown. Capricorns are very meticulous. “They don’t care how long it takes them — they’re very steady in trying to achieve their goals,” says Brown.

Brown’s picks for Capricorn: “‘Mastermind’ is very Capricorn,” says Brown. So is anything that’s grounded and old-school. Evermore is a good fit too because Swift tells stories about the past, and Capricorns “have a reverence for the past,” adds Brown.

Thornton’s picks for Capricorn: With Midnights, Taylor has reclaimed the pop sound she’s so famous for and puts a new spin on it, making it an ideal match for this sign, says Thornton. “Capricorn is a high-flying and hard-working sign,” she says. “She’s been working incredibly hard on her remastered albums to reclaim her rights and she puts out this pop perfection — she’s truly the most hard-working singer/songwriter in the business.”

Aquarius

“Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, the planet of revolution, rebellion, and innovation,” says Brown. An air sign, Aquarius is quirky, unconventional, and individualistic. Swift’s Venus is in Aquarius, notes Brown, which contributes to her being innovative.

Brown’s picks for Aquarius: “’Labyrinth’ feels Aquarian to me,” says Brown. She adds that anything quirky and unconventional is a good option here. Folklore is an example of Taylor trying a new style of music, so it’s a nice choice for Aquarius.

Thornton’s picks for Aquarius: Folklore is also Thornton’s album of choice for Aquarius. “This album saw a shift in Taylor’s sound and something no one expected, which is very Aquarian,” she says. “They think outside the box and are innovative.”

Pisces

“Pisces is ruled by Neptune, the planet of dreams, spirituality, and mysticism,” says Brown. Pisces is a water sign and is therefore very emotional. “They get lost in their emotions and have trouble teasing out what’s real from what’s not,” explains Brown.

Brown’s picks for Pisces: Any of Swift’s deeply romantic, poetic songs are a fit for Pisces, says Brown. “Today Was a Fairytale” and “Wildest Dreams” are perfect for this sign, she says.

Thornton’s picks for Pisces: As with Aquarius, Thornton likes Folklore for this sign. “Pisces is very sensitive and emotional,” she says. “You can hear it reflected in ‘Mirrorball’ and ‘Exile.’”
