Robyn LaLonde doesn’t just mean business when it comes to training hard for endurance races. She means business about every aspect of being an athlete, including taking recovery as a serious part of a training regimen.

And if you train with Robyn, you better get ready to recover like the athlete she’s going to make you become because she does not mess around. That’s why you’ll find members at EDGE Athlete Lounge –  her gym and every endurance athlete’s paradise – camped out every moment they can muster to be there when they’re not in full-on workout mode.

Robyn’s background is in, you guessed it, distance running and triathlons. She is a USAT Level-1 Coach, Certified Level II Metabolic Efficiency Training Specialist and Head Coach for Nike+ Run Club. After completing her first Ironman she knew that she wanted to help athletes listen to that little voice inside of their head, however crazy the goal. Since then, she has helped athletes of all levels find their fastest and furthest miles, from 5ks to marathons, ultramarathons to Ironmans. As an avid triathlete and runner, she’s a multiple-time USAT Nationals, Boston Marathon and Wester States Qualifier.

And now, no matter where you live, you can train with Robyn to increase your mile time and swim speed, build strength in complementary ways to your endurance workouts and – most importantly of all – recover like the athlete you are with her mobility workout, whether or not you have a membership to EDGE Athlete Lounge.

In a nutshell, what’s your teaching style?
High expectations with a healthy dose of reality and understanding. If you show up, I expect you to work. But I also know that “life happens” and we need to be adaptable in order to move forward. Progress is not a straight line.

What do you love most about teaching?
That moment when an Athlete does something they didn’t think they could do. Transformation is power!

Your best advice to anyone who takes your class/trains with you – in real life or on the app?
I will expect you to do your best! Because deep down, I know you are showing up because YOU want to do your best.

What’s your favorite book right now?
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck – (seriously, if you have not read this book, get on it!)

Favorite way to work out outside of running?
Pug wrestling. We have two senior pugs and when they get rowdy, our house rule is to drop everything, get on the floor and wrestle. It’s fun to see our EDGE members get in on this!

What’s your guilty pleasure?
Anything pickled. I don’t know if that is guilty or not, but I.can.not.stop.

Anywhere in the world you could travel to right now?
Provence. It’s lavender season AND the Tour de France is coasting through right now!
