The Fab Fit take:

From the second the instructor (also owner) Heather kicked off the class, you could gather the go-to moves for her students’ physiques: push-ups and squats. Between sets of squats and push-ups, we often worked two muscles at a time, which resulted in squatting AND biceps curling.

We used props to up the intensity of every move including 2 lbs. weights, 7 lbs. weights, a playground ball (foursquare sized) and a small ball.

The class hit every major muscle group. Our arms and shoulders were screaming as we did shoulder press after shoulder press. Just when I thought I couldn’t lift my arms one more time, we switched to lighter weights and kept going.

Between rounds of planks (I counted at least 4), we bench pressed in bridges and alternated between pressing and pulsing in a bridge. Throughout the class, there wasn’t a wasted second setting up or preparing for the next move. This was a straight hour of work.

This class was a challenge, but throughout the sweat-fest, Heather offered ways to modify to take each move up or down a level. The kicker and a testament to the intense class: we worked so hard, we steamed up the mirrors of the studio.

Tips:

  • Get there early! This class fills up  – and for good reason.

The verdict: This is a fantastic way to burn some calories and start your day (I was there on a Sunday Morning)
