Valentine's Day breakfast in bed

Sweets

Waffles

Fruit topping and whipped cream, yes please! When you pair a whole grain waffle choice like these Evergreen waffles that are packed with fiber and protein with some of your favorite toppings, you get a healthy and delicious breakfast option.

Crepes

You can opt for the easy premade choice to save time and aid in convenience. Crepes can be either savory or sweet, although sweet crepes are more common. Any combination of ingredients from banana Nutella to avocado spinach would make for a delicious dish.

Parfait

Refreshing, light, and healthy, this is an excellent option for a morning meal. You can customize your parfait ingredients, but some staples include granola, fruit, and honey. You can also choose your favorite type of yogurt from Greek yogurt to non-dairy to flavored.

French toast

There are endless variations of French toast, from the type of bread used to the topping. This dish is a bit more involved to make with soaking bread slices in an egg mixture, then pan searing each slice. The results of the tasty dish are certainly worth the effort.

Pancakes

Chocolate chip pancakes are a personal favorite of mine — but like most of the food on this list, you’re able to customize your dish with whatever ingredients work best for you. If you’re short on time or don’t want the mess, there are plenty of frozen pancake options that are just as delicious as those that are made fresh. Don’t forget the butter and syrup to make your dish even sweeter and more rich.

Cinnamon rolls

Nothing says sexy like hot and steamy cinnamon buns! You can prep and roll the dough yourself or opt for the easier tried-and-true canned cinnamon rolls.

Fruit salad

If you’re looking for a fresh and light breakfast option, fruit salad could be the perfect solution. If you have a lot planned for the day, starting with this high nutrient and hydrating breakfast will work in your favor.

Savory

Breakfast pizza

Another fun breakfast idea is the breakfast pizza. You can make this easily by using pre-made pizza crust dough. Bonus points if you shape your crust into a heart! Add any toppings your heart desires.

Quiche

Quiche is another dish with a number of options for ingredients. With a 10-minute cook time, this protein-packed and low-carb breakfast won’t disappoint. Air fryer quiche is easy to make, and the air circulation leaves you with eggs that are light and fluffy. Line the basket with parchment paper and add eggs or egg whites and your desired additional ingredients.

Avocado toast

Looking for a popular and trendy Instagram-worthy option? Look no further than avocado toast. You can make this by simply smearing ripe and buttery avocado on a crispy piece of toast or doctor it up with additional ingredients like bacon, tomatoes, or artichoke. This is a minimal effort dish that always garners great results.

Salmon and lox bagel

Bright and light, smoked salmon is a great breakfast option if you’re looking for something flavorful to start your day.

Drinks

Smoothie

Leaning into the Valentine’s Day theme, you can opt for a red/pink smoothie. You can choose fruits and ingredients that are red like strawberries and raspberries.

Champagne cocktail

To complete your breakfast, pair it with a champagne cocktail. Instead of the traditional orange juice mimosa, you can opt for a champagne and grenadine combination for a rosy pink hue. You can then garnish with berries or maraschino cherries. Extra points if you bring the champagne and champagne bucket to bed too so you can top off the beverage throughout the meal.

Bloody Mary

Another traditional breakfast cocktail, the Bloody Mary, pairs well with many of the savory breakfast dishes. You have the option of making your beverage as spicy as you’d like to start the day off with a kick!

Hot chocolate

It’s still cold outside, so what better way to start the day than by cuddling in bed with a warm mug of cocoa? I recently wrote an article about different variations of hot chocolate if you’re wanting to try out something new!

Finishing touches

These are the details that transform a regular breakfast-in-bed to a romantic, special Valentine’s Day treat. A more direct choice could be to get Valentine’s themed plates and napkins. If you’re looking for more subtle decor, you can choose a single stem red rose or half dozen arrangement of carnations to add to your serving tray. Don’t forget to personalize your display with a heartfelt card or letter. If you’re going all out with a small gift, now could be a good time to present that as well.

No matter which dishes you choose for your Valentine’s Day breakfast-in-bed, I hope you enjoy the day with your love. Remember the most important part of Valentine’s Day is sharing love and spending time together. Hopefully a nice breakfast-in-bed brings you closer together and gives you all the feels this Valentine’s Day!
