Breakfast time with Amylu Foods

There’s something day-making about a hot breakfast. I used to reserve a nourishing, warm, first meal for the weekend until I lived with a roommate who took a totally different approach.
Every day, Maddie would make an omelet in the same pan. She’d sit and eat, clean the pan, and then start her day. All in, the routine took 20 minutes. I can do 20 minutes.
And with Amylu Foods Breakfast Time Chicken Mini Links, a simple hot breakfast feels even more achievable. These fully-cooked breakfast sausages are great in a breakfast bowl, on a plate next to some fruit and toast, or as a savory addition to an omelet.
aSweatLife Ambassadors got their hands on these gluten-free, pork-free, antibiotic-free, nitrate and nitrite-free (phew – that’s a lot to love), mini, chicken sausages. We already loved this Chicago-based company celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, but breakfast really put that love over the top.
We always have ambassadors rate the products we try anonymously on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best. More than 100 ambassadors rated this product an average of 9.1. That’s one of the highest ratings we’ve ever seen.
Here’s why they liked them.
They don’t sacrifice flavor to be free of all of the bad stuff (gluten, antibiotics, nitrates and nitrite-free). If I’ve learned anything from Top Chef, it’s this: Taste and texture walk hand-in-hand. Amylu Foods put as much consideration into the texture of this product as it did the flavors.
The company has a history of careful research and development.
Amylu (a real person, by the way), learned the trade from her grandfather, who was making traditional sausages in Chicago’s meat-packing district. When it came time for Amylu to take the helm, she took her knowledge as the third-generation family member running this business and her passion for creative, better-for-you products and put it all to work. She took two years to get the very first Chicken Sausage’s taste and texture just right.
A few big takeaways from Ambassadors who tried them:

“Links were delicious! A great addition to breakfast bowls and breakfast for dinner.” -Allison
“I think they are delicious … I can easily throw them on the griddle for a few minutes on a short break from work and then eat them. They have become my go-to morning breakfast.” –Nicole Coover
“The flavors are packed and powerful, but don’t taste artificial.” –Susan Kuilder
“They are delicious, easy to make and a great way to add protein to breakfast” – Erica Agran
“Really delicious. An easy way to get some extra protein in the morning” –Sanjana Das
We loved the nutrients and the simple ingredients
We’re not in our calorie-counting era. So, when we read a label, we’re looking for ingredients we can pronounce and nutrients to fuel our active lifestyles.
Ready for the full ingredient list? Chicken Raised Without Antibiotics, Contains 2% or less of: Extract of Rosemary, Water, Kosher Salt, Parsley, Spices, Vinegar.
And a serving size of three links packs a punch of 11g of protein. Pair that with toast or fruit and you have a great post-workout recovery of carbs and protein.
Here’s what Ambassadors had to say about the ingredients:
“The ingredients also REALLY surprised me – most [breakfast sausages] are full of crap, so I was happy to add these knowing they were good for you.” –Jordan Borkan
“Great flavor and texture! I like the minis as they are a perfect breakfast size that fills you up but doesn’t make you feel super stuffed’ – Daisy Mendoza
“They taste delicious and I love the quality ingredients. Plus, they are great to have for a quick and easy meal.” –Kelley Bond
Kid’s love them!
As a parent of zero total kids, I have this wildly idealistic view that if we ever have kids they’ll just “eat what we eat.” Parents have assured me that is incorrect on all accounts.
But, I’ll cross that bridge when I get there. Luckily, I kept seeing “kid approved” come up over and over in Ambassador responses.
Here’s a smattering:
“Very delicious, great texture, LOVED by my 1 year old!” -Kristina
My 18-month-old son also loves them, and I love that the links ingredients are real.” –Jax Turyna Fetters
“Super tasty! Toddler approved.” –Stephanie Radenkovich
