My first 6 months as an aSweatlife Ambassador

I am coming up on finishing my first 6 months in the aSweatlife Ambassador program – and I simultaneously cannot believe it’s already been that long, and that there was a time I was not an ambassador! I feel so connected to the community already, and for that I am grateful.

I have gotten so much out of this program in just half a year, and I am so excited for the adventures to come.

One of my favorite ways to reflect is a Rose (highlights), Bud (something to look forward to), Thorn (lowlights) exercise, and I’ll share that with you, dear reader 🙂

Rose:

Wow there are so many. The aSweatlife community has been a source of SO much joy during these past several months. I was looking for a way to build and find community outside of work and school, and this support system and structure was the way I was able to do that. From Studio of the Month, Goal For It programming, Sweatworking week, and many many goodies in the mail, I have gotten an amazing return from investing in the community and platform. I also loved celebrating AAPI Heritage month with the community by doing an Instagram takeover and being a guest editor! I have even brought along a few friends for the ride who have had a great experience too!

Trying Aerial Yoga during Sweatworking week for the first time!

Palentine’s Day @ Barre3 with friends old and new!

Bud:

Deepening and strengthening relationships through the program. I have made a lot of fast friends through the community, but am looking forward to strengthening these relationships, especially now that I have finished up my grad school program. Jeana (aSweatlife founder) has personally facilitated so many of these connections – I even met an ambassador who worked in the same office space because of the connected dots! Kelly (aSweatlife Communications director) shared TSwift inspired bracelets with Sweatworking week volunteers and it was such a kind gesture that made me more excited to form closer bonds with others through the program. Fascinating what a good ol’ fashioned friendship bracelet can do for the psyche!

Thorn:

I have always struggled with fitness communities in terms of body image and finding a place to fit in – but aSweatlife has always felt so incredibly welcoming despite all my personal insecurities. I have my own fitness, wellbeing, and health goals, but I have mindset work to do in terms of shifting the expectations the fitness industry can project on people. ASweatlife actively advocates for holistic wellness, against diet culture, and that has been a large part of me working through this thorn and finding beauty from the inside out.
