A Fab Fit Post-Workout Green Smoothie

It might be perfect timing given that tomorrow will be America’s biggest hangover to share a green smoothie – great for replenishing your body post-workout and post night-out.

I clearly went nuts at Trader Joe’s, but it was a delicious trip. Here’s what I threw in the blender (makes about 2 servings):

  • 2 cups of spinach
  • 1 green apple
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup of frozen pineapple
  • 1 cup of coconut water
  • a splash (1/8 of a cup or less) of orange juice
  • 1 TBS of flax seed oil

(Recipe adapted from Thug Kitchen – the baddest food blog in the business)

Seven ingredients make one delish drink. Fill about half of the blender with spinach and it’ll be greentastic. I chose a Bears glass for Fiance, because he will literally drink anything if it has a Chicago sports logo on it.

Besides its wonderful flavor, here’s what great about this smoothie: Your body needs potassium. Bananas have potassium, which may or may not also help with hangovers and soreness post-workout. Flax seed oil has omega-3s – the good fat, people. Coconut water hydrates, has potassium and all sorts of scientists are raving about it.

Happy new year!
