The beauty and wellness benefits of rosemary

So, what exactly are the benefits of rosemary? In Ayurvedic medicine, rosemary is regarded as a highly aromatic herb with medicinal properties. In addition to potentially promoting hair growth, rosemary may also improve memory, focus, and assist those dealing with chronic stress and anxiety, according to Ayurvedic proponents.

Does rosemary water for hair growth work?

“Rosemary oil does work for all hair types, though it does not work for all conditions,” notes William Gaunitz, certified trichologist, founder of Advanced Trichology, and leader in the hair loss and regrowth space. “Clinical data and in my professional experience shows it seems to be most applicable for androgenetic alopecia and alopecia areata.”

How to use rosemary water for hair growth

There are numerous ways to factor this herb into your haircare routine. “It is best to use rosemary oil with a carrier like MCT oil or utilized within an alcohol-based tincture for topical application,” explains Gaunitz. Unsure about the ratio of MCT to rosemary? “In my experience, 1% rosemary oil is sufficient enough to trigger a response,” he says.

Additionally, consuming rosemary tea or spraying infused rosemary water directly onto your scalp can may also offer benefits. However, these may not be as prominent without the addition of a carrier oil. To make rosemary water, simply boil a few sprigs of rosemary leaves in 2 cups of hot water for 15 minutes. A quick and easy way to try this trend!

Just note that you shouldn’t expect this product to solve all scalp and medically related hair loss issues. However, there are limited risks involved with trying this solution for promoting hair growth and vitality.

Do a patch test prior to use if you’re particularly sensitive. Adverse effects are typically limited to mild scalp irritation. Gaunitz believes that “the average individual should not experience any side effects.”
