I remember the first time I made homemade guacamole for someone – it was an editor at the newspaper that I called home in college. I did not have a crush on him, but in hindsight, I can see why his girlfriend was not appreciative of the gesture. 

For me, sharing good food signals my friendship. But sharing recommendations? That’s my love language. What’s the best fitness studio I’ve tried in a given city? I’ll make you a Google Doc – or send you 20 texts in a row with my rapid-fire thoughts. Wondering which gluten-free bread holds up to being toasted and is actually sandwich-sized? And recently, after living on Good Foods plant-based dips and guacamole, I’ve taken to sharing that recommendation so readily that my husband is tired of hearing it (but not tired of it showing up in our fridge). I can’t stress this enough: I was prepared to feel fine about this guac. Neither good, nor bad – fine. But it was love at first bite.
