Ali Brashler Takes You Through 10 Minutes of Core With Just a Yoga Block

Every time a yoga teacher sneaks a block into the core section of a yoga class, I forget how hard it’s going to be. It’s like my brain has trained me to forget. I’ll think to myself, “Okay, I’ve got this,” but I am all too quickly reminded that no, I do not “got this” – because it is effing hard.

Using a yoga block or similar prop enhances even the simplest of core crunches and ab-focused exercises. It kicks everything into high gear and helps you access your transverse abdominals — your deepest core muscles, not just your superficial six-pack (although, you’ll be getting those too).

Ali Brashler makes this tough workout accessible, you’ll find out, in this 10-minute intro to her Hard Core workout on the SweatWorking app.

If you don’t have a yoga block, you can use a firm pillow or folded towel to enhance this already challenging ab workout. Roll out your yoga mat or find a soft floor surface and get ready to push play on the best 10 minutes of your day.

Ali will lead you through an igniting core series that incorporates twists and a few stretches that feel great, as well as some nontraditional ab exercises that will leave your abs sore for days to come.

If you like what you try in the intro of Ali’s Hard Core yoga flow, download the SweatWorking app and get started on your two-week free trial.
