The Fab Fit take:
I love yoga, except lately I’ve been having issues focusing in my Vinyasa flow yoga classes. When my mind wanders, I end up spending the class trying to refocus and getting upset when I can’t. Could be coincidence, too much caffeine or it could just be that I’ve reached my sun salutation limit. Either way, the more challenge and the more variation that’s thrown towards my mat, the more I like the class.
Jivamukti yoga offered me the variety that I needed, but if you’re a regular practitioner, you know that there are certain elements that are always a part of the class. Many of those elements are more spiritual like chanting and meditation and the rest are a set of standard poses that are outlined by the Jivamukti school of yoga.
Whatever the sequence of poses, I enjoyed it and I found the class to not only feel good, but to present some challenges like handstands. I get a great satisfaction from being able to go up-side-down, probably something about wanting to be a gymnast when I was 6-years-old.
If you have trouble with chanting and spirituality making their way into your class, I challenge you to try again. Chanting is a remarkable way to clear your mind and, besides, it can help you clear your sinuses too.
Make your way into the conveniently located studio for both large classes like heated yoga and sculpt and small classes like Jivamukti.
