If you’re already wearing your fall wardrobe outside the gym, that means it’s time to step up your workout style for the season as well. This fall has some of the best activewear I’ve seen in a long time. The major trends are more compressive fabrics, high-waisted leggings that actually make you feel comfortable, beautiful prints and solids that are as far from boring as it gets. If you need some extra motivation to hit the gym—these outfits will certainly do it.
Athleta
Everything about this outfit from Athleta just gets it right. Even if you’re not a fan of showing your midsection, when it comes to come activities like hot yoga, it’s just more comfortable to wear as little as possible. Because the 7/8 Tights have a high waist, there is zero need to potentially feel self-conscious. They’re also size inclusive with regular, tall, petite and plus sizes available. The Hyper Focused Print bra also hits at right point, so it’s flattering and supportive without feeling overly exposed.
Layer with the Studio Cinch Sweatshirt. The fabric is thick enough to be warm but thin enough to wear under a jacket for those chillier days and nights.
Lilly Pulitzer
Fall is a great time to play tennis because it’s not too hot outside. It’s also a fun workout to do with someone else. With Lilly Pulitzer’s Martina tennis dress, you might not win your set, but you will win the style game. Smartly designed, it features a built-in bra as well as matching undershorts. This is especially helpful if tennis bloomers feel like granny panties to you. The Luxletic fabric is UPF 50+, so it offers sun protection.
Goop
This chic muted desert rose colored crop top/sports bra hybrid is from Goop’s G-Sport. The elastic band at the bottom helps you stay supported while you get your sweat on. If you aren’t into crops, choose the tank instead. The matching Seamed Leggings are high-waisted and designed to keep your body aligned. The fabric also offers sun protection, making these ideal for outdoor workouts such as hiking or jogging. Yes, just like Gwyneth, this outfit literally does everything.
Old Navy
Old Navy is a great place to buy really affordable, but quality activewear. For less than $20 (it’s currently on sale for $12), the Relaxed High-Neck Performance Swing Tank is a steal that looks more expensive than it is. Made of moisture wicking fabric, it’s ideal for those sweaty workouts.
Outdoor Voices
In past seasons, a lot of the Outdoor Voices styles have been subtly quiet, but not this season—it’s full-on loud! The polka dot Doing Things Bra is designed for medium-impact workouts like spin class. It also has a mesh back for those extra sweaty things you’re doing. You can wear the bra with matching bottoms or OV’s signature tri-tone colorblock leggings.
Crane & Lion
Crane & Lion really knows how to do a fun print. The 7/8 Tights in camo print feature a solid colorblock on the side, in case full-on camo isn’t your thing. Wear them with a sports bra and layer with a Pima Modern Tank.
Sela Fit
Stand out this season in Sela Fit’s Mulberry colored bras and leggings. While solids can get boring, this is the perfect fall color. It’s just the right shade of red. The Everything Leggings are made of compression material and have a high waisted cut. Wear it with the Got Your Back Bra, which is sexy, but supportive.
