For this experience, we will meet in the goats’ pasture, a third of an acre field on Carroll Ave, just down the street from Garfield Park Conservatory. Here we will have a 75-minute yoga class involving moving, stretching, and being aware of your own body, while goats graze, frolic, and perch on you! We will talk about power animals, connecting to the natural world hidden in plain sight, and touch on goat mythology and symbolism.
You are welcome to leave straight after class, or help walk the animals (some of you will carry the baby goats!) down the block back to a once contaminated, trash-filled vacant lot that has been transformed into an urban-farm in the heart of the west-side, where the goats live with their pony and chicken buddies. You can take a little tour, ask questions, or snack and drink coffee. Expect your shoes and clothing to get a little dirty, but also prepare to have fun, move your body and interact with animals and other humans.
Please Note: If it is raining, the event will be canceled. Your account will be credited for a future date or can request a refund by reaching out to [email protected]
Towels for yoga, coffee, tea and water will be provided. Bring a yoga mat if you have one.
